She's Powerful and Doesn't Even Know It
She’s been told she’s not smart enough, talented enough, pretty enough, worthy enough. Lies ingrained by hurt people who hurt people and solidified by a hard-handed world. Afraid to move. Wants to stay rooted to the spot. She has to deploy. If not, she’s a standing target. So every step is marked by fear and intimidation. The nightfall route is haunted by the night sky, a full moon skirted by fog, and chilling howls. Darkness and smog hazy her view. She can’t make out where the groans are coming from or who they are coming from, she just hears echos, falsities from all of the yesterdays passed. “You can’t do it. Turn around now while you still can. You’ll just fail. You don’t have the goods. You don’t know what you’re doing. It’s why you failed before. You don’t want to be a disappointment to your family again, do you? Go back to where it’s safe. You’ll find comfort and routine there. Nothing more is expected of you there. It’s bad but you can handle it. Trust me, there’s worse waiting for you down the road. Layaway that dream of yours. It won’t come true. Look at everything you’ve done, all the mistakes you’ve made. Do you really think God is going to bless you? You fool.” She doesn’t know that what sounds like wolves are really sheep, they just parrot their voices. That the dim backdrop and layer of mist shield her from the real enemy, the one who spreads the lies to sheep but doesn’t believe them himself. He knows she’s powerful beyond measure and is capable of achieving things people always said she couldn’t, things people always said were impossible to her. It’s he who is more afraid than she. If she keeps fighting the fear and lies and travels the path anyway, they’ll no longer rule her. She’ll reach her God-given purpose. Lives will change. Herself and others free. That she is you.
